Story behind the piece

This painting marked a turning point in my work.

For years, I painted horses unbridled. Portraying their freedom, instinct, raw truth. Here, for the first time, the horse wears a bridle.

Not as submission... but as choice.

From a distance, the horse appears refined, realistic, composed. Up close, abstraction emerges: bold color breaks, expressive marks, perception shifting with proximity. This duality mirrors how we experience people and ourselves.

The bridle represents conscious self-presentation. Not hiding. Not performing. But choosing how your power is directed.

This piece is about owning your narrative. About understanding that mastery doesn’t limit freedom, it focuses it.
