Kasia Bukowska: Equestrian Artist and Emotion Weaver

Welcome to my world, where art has become my lifeline, my healing process, and a profound expression of my journey. My path as an equestrian artist began not because I always dreamed of painting, but because I needed to reconnect with the world I loved when everything seemed lost.

My journey started when I was bedridden, faced with the devastating news that I might never ride horses again. For someone whose life revolved around the freedom and joy of riding, this diagnosis was more than just a setback—it felt like my entire world was collapsing. But I refused to accept the fate that the doctors prescribed for me. I decided to pave my own path and find a way back to the horses I loved, even if it had to be through a different medium.

One day, my mother brought me a canvas and some paints. I had never been drawn to painting before, but in that moment, it became my only outlet. I started with simple exercises, using the act of holding a paintbrush as a way to regain strength in my hands. Dipping the brush into paint and pressing it onto the canvas became my first steps toward recovery. What began as a physical exercise soon turned into an emotional release. Every brushstroke connected me to the horses I longed to see, to the life I missed, and to the freedom I was determined to reclaim.

The signature drips in my paintings, which have become a hallmark of my style, are not just a visual choice—they represent the tears I shed during those long, painful months. These drips symbolize the emotional agony of being separated from the horses I loved, the physical pain of learning to use my hands again, and the cathartic release that painting provided me. Through that pain, I discovered a new way to experience and express my connection to horses.

Over time, what started as therapy evolved into a passionate pursuit of artistic expression. My paintings are more than just portraits of horses; they are narratives of resilience, strength, and the indomitable spirit that both horses and I possess. Each piece is infused with the raw emotions I experienced during my recovery and the ongoing journey of self-discovery that my horses continue to guide me through.

Today, my art is a celebration of life’s complexities—the highs and lows, the joy and sorrow. My work invites you to explore your own emotional landscapes, to find solace in the beauty of the natural world, and to recognize the power of perseverance. Through my paintings, I offer not just a visual experience, but a story of triumph over adversity, a testament to the healing power of art, and a deep, unspoken dialogue between horse and human.

As you explore my work, you’re not just seeing art—you’re witnessing my journey of healing, growth, and transform

ation. Welcome to my world, where every painting tells a story, and every story is a testament to the strength of the human spirit.
